Standing Waves – Vibrating Guitar String

Slide 1 von 3

Vibrating Guitar String

We examine the characteristic sound of a vibrating guitar string.

The key elements of this station are classical musical instruments, such as a guitar. Let us analyze the spectrum of a single vibrating string.

But this is not an ordinary guitar. The reflections suggest a reinterpretation of the fundamental vibration pattern of the guitar string. The key lies in nodes, nodal lines, and nodal surfaces of standing waves, as well as in interplay between dimensions and symmetries. Those elements will reappear in all subsequent stations, like a theme and variations.
